Moisture in the footwell can cause the transmission to shift to neutral? I think I’ve heard it all now as far as recalls go. But I know I haven’t.

You cannot convince me that something named the “ProMaster City” is not some Chinese copy with a mangled english name.

I assume you’re joking, but you’re right in so far as that sure is a weird name.
ProMaster I guess because it’s targeted towards professionals? (Mastering it, even!!) And City because it’s the smaller offering among ProMaster vans?

I was gonna say a GTA V car, but yeah.

Like the JAC Motors Sunray Euro 4 ABS+EBD?
Which is a copy of a Sprinter.

Well it is just a Fiat after all, so weird problems are to be expected.
Probably the water causes a short in the gearbox computer, thus leading the car to revert to neutral as a safe position, in order to prevent the gearbox from going crazy.

I realize it’s a Fiat. No further details in the link than this: “a connector can succumb to moisture and send odd signals to the transmission”

But it couldn’t be a proper Italian Fiat if the transmission relies on electrons....
Italians drive vans with three pedals.
